Art Basel and Design Miami Plan New Parisian Editions
Art and modern design? Miss Oy! Earlier this week, Art Basel and MCH Group revealed their plans to create a new gallery for contemporary and modern art in Paris. The first edition will take place in October at the Grand Palais Éphémère, a temporary venue, before moving to the restored Grand Palais in 2024. In the wake of this announcement, Design Miami announced today that it is also taking a turn for Francophonie, with plans to launch its own event to coincide with the new exhibition. In addition, the organization presented Maria Cristina Didero as Global Curator, along with the theme of the planned exhibition curation: The Golden Age.

Savoir shares its first vegan mattress
The artisans at Savoir have put together what they call a “recipe for better sleep,” resulting in a new mattress designed using an all-vegan “ingredients” list. Contrasting with the general market use of synthetic fibers and memory foam, the new Reformer NtheThe 4v mattress uses bamboo, natural linen, tampico fibers, and cotton to create a plant-based bed that provides naturally temperature-regulated sleep.
Zak + Fox and Jamb create a collaboration not to be missed
This week marks the official start of the London-based lighting, furniture and fireplace company Jamb’s year-long residency at Zak + Fox showroom in New York City. For the first time ever, designers in the US will be able to see Jamb’s reproduction furniture — upholstered in Zak + Fox’s latest fabric line, no less — in person, as well as more than 30 units of the company’s handmade lamps.
Designer Tyler Hill launches a limited-edition workshop
Washington, DC-based interior designer Tyler Hill’s interaction of light, materials and sophisticated form is well showcased at the launch of transparent Atelier, a furniture and lighting brand that debuted with 10 Brutalism-inspired pieces. Oil-rubbed bronze, smoky mirror glass, alabaster, and more contribute even more to the quality of the Italian-made collection.
BADG Partnership with Pottery Barn
In other product news, it is definitely important not to miss two great offers. Today, Pottery Barn launched its inaugural collection with the Black Artists + Designers Guild, commonly referred to as BADG. “The pieces reflect our uniqueness, flexibility and strength,” collection designers and BADG members Benny Francis, Casey Saint Julian and Lisa Turner said in a statement.
